Can plan and follow the route of a journey unaided.

B

Needs prompting to be able to undertake any journey to avoid overwhelming psychological distress to the claimant.

4 pts
C

Cannot plan the route of a journey.

8 pts
D

Cannot follow the route of an unfamiliar journey without another person, assistance dog or orientation aid.

10 pts
E

Cannot undertake any journey because it would cause overwhelming psychological distress to the claimant.

10 pts
F

Cannot follow the route of a familiar journey without another person, an assistance dog or an orientation aid.

12 pts

Understanding the Points

0 pts - No difficulty1-2 pts - Some difficulty3-4 pts - Moderate difficulty5-6 pts - Significant difficulty7+ pts - Severe difficulty

Only the highest scoring descriptor that applies to you is counted. You cannot add points from multiple descriptors within the same activity.

Remember: The "Reliably" Test

When considering which descriptor applies to you, think about whether you can complete the activity:

  • Safely – without risk of harm to yourself or others
  • To an acceptable standard – the outcome meets basic requirements
  • Repeatedly – as often as reasonably required
  • In a reasonable time – no more than twice as long as someone without a condition
